Chapter 1 -Bloodstained Greetings-:
A young tomcat, his fur drenched with blood, ran through the dark forest. He was crying bittersweet tears and after a short while he stopped on a field of grass. The grass was very tall, in fact so tall, that the cat couldn’t see anything anymore. He lay down and whimpered quietly, while the blood in his fur coloured the ground dark red. “Spark… Why Spark… why…”, he whispered. His voice was cracked and husky.
Ember was woken by a high pitched scream. Startled he opened his bright green eyes, looking at the young cat in front of him. “You…you’re… full of blood!” she squeaked. “…Am I?” The red tom started licking his fur, while the white she-cat was watching him. “Who are you? I’ve never seen someone like you here before. You must be new, so where do you come from and why are you here?” His deadly stare made her fall silent again, then he answered after he finished cleaning his pelt. “I am called Ember. I came from… someplace behind the mountains.” “Wow, I am also from behind the mountains! Why did you leave?” Ember shivered a bit before he growled: “There were a few… problems… Well, never mind. Who are you?” “My name is Air! I came here because I was abandoned from my family.” “Oh, I’m sorry.” “It’s okay! I don’t blame anyone.” She probably blames herself… the tomcat thought. I wonder what happened between her and her family… “So Ember…What are you going to do now?” Air asked curiously. “I think… well… I… I don’t really know yet.” Ember admitted. “I just ran until I got here, so my mind is still pretty blank.” “Oh. Hey, why don’t we stay together for a while? Like an… alliance?” the she-cat suggested. The tom looked a bit confused, but then Air meowed: “I’m going to hunt something! You are hungry too, are you?” He nodded slowly then he watched her disappear in-between the tall grass. “Well then… I could look for someplace to sleep; or rather to hide.” Ember squeezed himself through the grass until he found a cave carved into a ledge. “This seems nice…”, he murmured while he examined the dark lair. “It will do. Also, the place in front of it doesn’t have that annoying tall grass… I could build dens there…” Immediately the tom shook his head and scolded himself. “I shouldn’t always think in that way. That’s not good for me.” “What way?” Air suddenly asked. She was standing in the entrance to the cave and looking at him curiously. In front of her paws there were two small mice. “Err… the… group-cat way.” Ember explained quickly. “Oh, so you like living in groups? I didn’t think so.” He was confused. “Why didn’t you think so?” “Because you remind me of some cat I know. Just somehow, you’re a lot nicer than him. At least I hope so…” She meowed the last part very quietly. I wonder who she is talking about. Maybe about someone she is blood-related to? Is it the one who abandoned her? Ember nodded and pulled one of the mice closer to him, so he could eat it. “Thank you for hunting.” Air laughed and looked at him, all happy again. “No problem, Ember.” They both ate their mice quietly, then the tomcat stood up and said: “I’m going to get some grass, we need something to sleep on.” After the white cat nodded, he left the cave and wandered outside. With his teeth, he ripped out a few grass stems and carried them inside, where he built two nests. Air claimed the one which was further away from the entrance. When they lay down to sleep, the moon was lighting up the cave. “It’s beautiful…” Air whispered. “It really is…” Ember answered. “Have you ever wondered what the stars really are?” The she-cat murmured: “My mother always told me that they’re our ancestors, and that they are protecting and watching us.” “That’s a nice story…” “I think it’s true… My sister always called this band of stars ‘silverpelt’, because it looks like thick white fur. Then mum said, that is the fur of our ancestors.” Ember listened to Air with deep interest. “Do you think they can hear us from below?” he asked. “I don’t know. Maybe. Maybe not.” They stared at the sky for a few moments, then the red cat murmured: “Sleep well, Air.” And you sleep well too, Spark. I hope you will sleep well forever.
Chapter 2 -New Companions-:
When Ember woke up, he found a white she-cat staring at him. Oh right. That’s the cat I met yesterday. Her name was Air I think. The tom stood up and straightened his fur. “What’s up, Air?” he asked. “I heard cats outside! I’m scared Ember! Talk to them!” As she said that, he noticed that she looked at him nervously. “Okay Air.” He sighed. “I’m going to talk to those cats.” He trotted out of the cave to see… nothing. “No one is here.” “I wouldn’t say that.” Suddenly a blue, black and white tom appeared right behind Ember. “Who are you and what do you want?!” the red tomcat hissed. “Well, I could ask you the same question. You’re the intruder. My name is Water and I live here. Okay, not exactly here but very near and this is part of my territory!” the stranger growled. “Have you got a companion?” Ember asked. “Right heeere!” A brown she-cat trotted down the hill towards the two toms. “I’m Earth, nice to meet you!” Water sighed and hummed: “Earth, I said you wait in the forest!” “But it was boring there, grumpy cat.” she answered. “I’m all grown up, so stop trying to protect me all the time.” Somehow Water seems to be older, but Earth looks older… “Whatever. You leave our territory and we don’t kill you.” Water meowed. “Ember, is everything okay?” Air had come out of the cave and watched them silently. “Who are they?” “We will not leave, we just arrived! Maybe after some time we’re able to leave, but definitely not now!”, the red tom growled, ignoring Air completely. “Well, don’t say I didn’t warn you.” Water extended his claws and raised his paw, but then Earth hissed: “Stop it Water.” The tom stared at her in confusion. “Look at the white kitten… she’s like Flake…” “She is not Flake!” “But…” “She is not-“ “I know that!” the brown she-cat screamed. “But she still is a kit! If you try to kill a kit, I’m going to rip you apart, Water!” After she said this, the blue tom dropped his paw back to the ground. “Fine then.” he snarled. “Do whatever you want.” Air stood next to all of them and asked: “So you are living here too? Ember and I formed an alliance, do you want to join? I bet it’s more fun if we are a bigger group!” Earth sought Water’s face, but he turned his back on them. “I would love to, if you let me!” the brown she-cat responded happily. “What?! Why are you… I… Aaargh!” Water yelled. “Will you join us too, grumpy cat?” The blue tom inhaled deeply then he muttered: “Well I guess someone has to watch out for you, so…” “Oh thank you thank you thank you!” Air squealed. “Just don’t annoy me.” Ember rolled his eyes and murmured: “I’m sure she won’t…” As punishment she pinched the red tom’s side. “Hey!” “Your fault! You were mean!” He sighed. “Okay, my fault. I’m so mean.” “Should we make our own nests?” Earth asked them. “Err…. sure, go ahead.” Ember meowed. “Use some grass to make them.” Water mumbled: “What, grass? Moss is way softer. But well, I guess at this place, there is no moss.” The red tom and the white she-cat watched them, until Ember said: “I’m going hunting today.” With these words he turned around and disappeared. Wow. I didn’t expect us to become an even bigger group. Actually I didn’t expect us to become one at all. But I guess it’s good for me to be in some company. Otherwise I could get lonely and in my current condition that’s not good at all. Somehow I feel so refreshed next to Air, Earth and Water. It’s like we all share something that ties us together. I wonder what that might be. Spark, do you know? The scent of mice reached Embers nose and he immediately began to look for the source. The smell lead him all the way into a small clearing. Three mice were sitting next to a tree and the tom crouched down to catch them. Unfortunately one of them saw him and warned the others. Ember jumped at them to start a last attempt to catch them. One of the mice was too slow so he had the chance to kill it. “Good. Three more to go.” he whispered. Suddenly there was a noise behind him, but when he turned back, no one was there. “Hello?” Out of the dark a cat lunged out at him and nailed him to the ground. She grabbed his mouse and vanished again. Ember only got a quick glance at her black fur and her amber eyes. “Who was that? I wonder.”
Ich lade bald das 3. und 4. Kapitel hoch, aber noch bin ich nicht fertig.
